MET Notifications

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC - Permit Applications
To ensure issuance of permits and registration certificates within the shortest possible time, kindly be reminded of the following:
  • The onus is on the applicant to ensure that the application (including those for trophy hunting, Harpagophytum and CITES) is fully completed.
  • Applications must be completed in English.
  • All required documentation should be attached.
  • Applications will not be processed  unless all information is provided.
Permit Office staff will not contact applicants to provide additional information - applications will be kept and processed only once all information is submitted.

To ease the burden of following up on permit processing, NAPHA handles the permit application process for any permit application received. We follow up on each application, ensuring that no outstanding information delays the issuance of a permit.
An administrative fee of N$100.00 plus VAT per trophy application submitted, is applicable for this service.

The office visits MET every Monday and Thursday morning. Permits not received by 08h00 on the day of the visit, will only be submitted on the next visit. Please ensure to send your permits in advance, as processing by MET can take up to 4 days. We will follow up and inform you of any problems with the issuing of permits and ensure that you receive your permit in the shortest possible time. If you would like to make use of this service, please forward your permit application to office@napha.com.na

Remember that each trophy permit application must include the full residential address of the visiting hunter and a clear passport copy. Always ensure that the application is completed neatly and legibly. All MET applications forms can be obtained by contacting the office (061 234 455).

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC - Game Utilization
Dear client, please note the following when submitting your application for wildlife utilization to avoid unnecessary delays:
  1. A farm inspection must be conducted every 3 years, especially on stock proof fenced farms.
  2. A fence inspection also needs to be conducted every 2 years.
  3. However, both farm and fence inspections might be prompted by a particular application.
  4. The list of shareholders and the person who is registered in the deeds registry as the owner of such farm or land, and which includes every director of a company registered in a deeds registry as the owner of such farm or land should be submitted to the Permit Office.

Hosea Kutako International Airport - Incident Report

NAPHA is liaising with NamPol high ranks regarding feedback received by members concerning the rifle import and export at Hosea Kutako International Airport. Please forward us full details of any incident experienced, by completing the Incident Report and sending it to ceo@napha.com.na

Traveling with British Airways/Comair

Traveling with firearms must always be thoroughly researched prior to confirming flight arrangements. Take note of the following baggage restrictions when traveling with firearms on flights operated by BA/Comair:
  • You cannot take any guns, firearms and other devices that discharge projectiles, i.e. devices capable (or appearing capable) of being used to cause serious injury by discharging a projectile, on either your person or in your hand baggage. You can only carry these items in your checked baggage and in most cases, will need to notify us in advance.

  • You must contact us at least 72 hours before your flight to ensure compliance with government embargoes and restrictions for the below items - if you fail to notify us, you will not be able to travel with your equipment:  firearms of all types, such as pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns, component parts of firearms, excluding telescopic sights.

  • If you are planning to make a booking on ba.com that includes a flight operated by another airline, please contact us before booking to check if the other airline is able to carry your firearm. For example, you may not transport any firearms, including sporting rifles, on flights operated by BA/Comair.
For more information, visit the baggage section of their website (Banned and restricted items).

Always familiarize yourself with your airlines baggage allowance and restrictions.

Rangeland Monitoring - Test the App

"Please help us test a new app for better rangeland management." The rangeland monitoring team has developed an app to assist farmers with better monitoring of factors such as:
  • Forecast if you have sufficient forage available for your animals for this dry season.
  • Forecast the fodder depletion rate over the dry season, calculated from your data inputs such as farm size, grass productivity and animal numbers.

Get the App:

1. Search "Rangeland Fodder Flow Planner" in Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS/Apple).
2. Install

For more information email rangemonitor@gmail.com.

Namibia Leopard Census gains support

One year ago NAPHA initiated the Namibia Leopard Census. With MET as prime partner, and support of various Non Governmental Organizations an extensive, country-wide leopard population census was started, with the aim of gathering data to assist with decision making regarding leopard conservation in Namibia. Dr Louisa Richmond-Coggan finished Phase 2 of the project in early June, including visits on farms to gain insight into the current leopard situation in all areas. While this was ongoing, NAPHA made efforts to secure ongoing financial support to allow the project to continue. More and more support could be gathered, with the SCI Foundation as the newest supporter.

We thank the following Donors for realizing the utmost importance of this project:
Dallas Safari Club Foundation                        - financial contribution
